Tomorrow, President Bush will undergo a routine colonoscopy. The medical procedure will require him to be under anesthesia. So, the President will utilize the 25th ammendment to the Constitution and Dick Cheney will assume the power. Cheney will remain in power till Bush is no longer the influence of the anesthesia. That should be in a few hours after the power has been transferred. I imagine that people in the business of comedy right now are enjoying the bonanza. This story alone ha...

Today, it was reported that a "tearful" Dennis Nifong will resign as DA. It's about time. Months ago, when ethics charges were finally formally brought onto Nifong, I wrote how maybe justice might be finally on it's way to being done in this case. Today's resignation, combined with stirring testimony from one of Nifong's victims, were a step in that direction. Nifong should have resigned a long time ago, and I truly hope the North Carolina bar takes away his liscense. What he did in using ...

Philip Giordano, the former Republican mayor of Westbury Connecticut, was given more jail time in connection with a list of sex offenses with children. And when we say children here, we mean little kids. Philip Giordano entered pleas to four counts of first-degree sexual assault and four counts of conspiracy to commit sexual assault Charges based on allegations that he paid a crack-addicted prostitute to bring her 8-year-old daughter and 10-year-old niece to him for oral sex. He plea...

Last Night, the 2nd debate for the Democrats took place, this time on CNN. It was the 4th debate overall, with the Republicans going at it twice already on MSNBC and Fox. The Democrats chose to skip Fox's offer for a debate last month. This production wasn't quite as slick as Fox's, but like the NFL on CBS, it had it's own charm. CNN chose to go back to the "no-applause" rule, sticking to a more traditional debate format than Fox, who encouraged applause, something usually not part of a ...

Another departure from the Bush White House today was announced. The President's Counselor, Dan Bartlett announced he would be stepping down. Bartlett assumed that position in January of 2005. He has been working for the Bush team since 1994 when he was involved in Bush's Texas Governor race.

Today, Texas Congressman and Presidential hopeful Ron Paul defended his prior statements about the blunders in US Policy that lead to 9/11 and our disaster in Iraq. He did so by offering a reading list to Mr Giuliani, who's gaffes this week include claiming President Clinton wanted to go to war with Iraq, but just never got the chance. Someone needs to inform the ex mayor that this is simply not true. And that the 1998 resolution was not about going to war with Iraq but about backing Cha...

Last night, Keith Olbermann gave one of his special comments. This time, he was not primarily focused on the President or Vice President and their failed Iraq policy, but rather the Democratic Congress folding to the President after recieving a clear mandate last fall from the voters. For those who claim that "all we do is bash the President" should read this. And those who have read some of my past articles and comments on other blogs know that I have been critical of the leadership and call...

I, like many , have seen the reports about 6 Muslims planning an attack on Fort Dix, New Jersey over the past few days. It's great that they caught these guys, although, again, it had nothing to do with any of the money we have blown on high tech equipment or efforts we have exhausted on eliminating rights in the name of freedom. But more on that later.... 1st, my question... Why is this attack considered to be terrorism? Isn't part of terrorism's definition an attack on a civillian tar...

The commercial is funny, and runs on cable news shows regularly. A man, in a nice Suburban setting, is showing the audience his nice life that includes all the ammenities and cool stuff. Then he asks rhetorically, "How do I do it?" and answers himself,,, "i'm in debt up to my eyeballs!" as his family and neighbors go about their business in the backround, oblivious to his pleas for help. It still cracks me up. And like a lot of humor, it's funny because it's true. Fact is, we are ...

Today, Vice President stood up before the cameras following his hospital visit involving a blod clot in his leg. Cheney blasted Reid for taking 3 positions in the last 6 months on the war. And Reid has. He has gone from saying there will be no defunding of the troops, to saying that there will be a condition based bill, to suggesting that Senator Russ Feingold's bll to defund the troops will be brought before the Senate floor. And Cheney was right in pointing out the Senator's moveme...

Since the handover in Congress in January, I have noticed something interesting. Now that Congress is beginning to get back to the task of executive oversight after a long hiatus, everything is now the media's fault. At least, according to the Neoconservatives. Sure, there are always the complaints from either side charging bias whenever anyone makes a compelling argument for or against an issue they hold dear on the opposite side of the fence. But htis is more of the "chicken little" vari...

This week, Senator James Inhofe found his panties in a bundle when he realized he wasn't in charge and couldn't just filibuster former vice president Al Gore in the hearings that Gore was asked to come and testify at. Gore tried to remain cordial as possible while Inhofe, not being able to emotionally deal with the fact that he couldn't just push his opposition around and "fix the game" as he had done in his tenure as the committee chair. Finally, the actual chair of the committee, Barbara Bo...

He was a perennial starting quarterback in the NFL. He had endorsements that other players envy. He was truly one of the NFL's most exciting players. He got "the cover" of the most popular sports videogame franchises ever. As the old cliche goes, women wanted him and men wanted to be him. Michael Vick had it all. So, last year, when Vick was busted in an airport for possession of a small amount of pot, most people were left wondering, "what is this guy thinking?" Even if someone doesn't ...

In 2001, Congress rubber stamped the Patriot Act with the blessing of the vast majority of American people. But after the "bumpersticker" and "wear it on your sleeve" brand of patriotism wore off for some, they began to question the constitutional ramifications and loss of civil liberties it would cause our great nation. Of course, in the style that we all have become accustomed to, the White House and it's puntitry immediately smeared anyone who dared question them. Questions of potent...
