Today, The Whitehouse decided that "stay the course" was no longer acceptable as a talking point. After years of demonizing anyone who even suggestied any changes in tactics, the administration wishes to paint itself as a flexible, nimble and ever changing force. Too little, too late. If someone suggested more troops, the administration said "no, we need to stay the course." If someone suggested less troops, they were told "no, we need to stay the course." If someone suggested trying to br...

the Republican party is desperate to hold power. For months now, candidates have waged highly negative campaigns to try to stop any takeover by the democrats of either house fo congress. The rhetoric has reached a fever pitch as those ads have seemingly lost their effectiveness. Out of the ashes of those unsuccessful attacks, the portable punditry has unleashed their latest round of "why everyone should still vote republican." Now, the pundits speak of conservative philosophies. They try ...

California GOP heads are urging candidate Tan D. Nguyen, a Vietnamese immigrant trying to unseat a popular Democratic incumbent. Nguyen, who allegedly had direct knowledge of a racist, threating letter targeted at hispanic voters in California. Over 14,000 letters were sent out telling them they might be arrested and deported if they even tried to vote. Nguyen denies having any direct involvement, but evidence suggests otherwise. One might think that these allegations would come from the ...

This week, President Bush signed the War Commissions Act. The GOP, in an attempt to reframe the election debates once again, heralded the signing as another nail in the coffin to democrats more so than any terrorist at home or abroad. Funny, I thought that the war was against terrorists, not democrats. Dennis Hastert, amongst others, desperate to hold onto power, bragged that this bill would stop those pesky democrats from "coddling and pampering" terrorists. yeah, that's what's been ha...

The headline pretty much says it all. It may be much ado about nothing, But the department of homeland security has notified the NFL and the individual teams that there is a threat to explode 7 "dirty bombs" at games this weekend or "soon." The 7 cities being targeted are New York, Miami, Atlanta Cleveland, Seattle, Oakland and Houston. Publicly, homeland security is calling the threat "not credible." Yet they have been prepping the cities and having them increase security. Inter...

Alot of panic seems to have set in with the GOP. The balance of power is threatening to actually have some balance, and some are scared. Should they be? Well, if they are folk who are only interested in power and feel the only way to get their ideas across is to basically "fix" the vote, then yes. But I don't think most GOP members, at least the ones I know, feel that need. Most of the republicans I know are real conservatives, and where having a majority has been nice, they understand democ...

I just was over at the Libertarian party site....Took their quiz (takes about a minute or 2) on what my political leanings are. Here's what it showed... ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS, The political description that fits you best is... . CENTRIST CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choic...

Just a quick note.... thru this thursday, October 19th, the Music Promotion train has decided to put me up with a bunch of other artists in a contest. I really don't think i'll win anything as I am sure that some of these people have bigger fan bases and all. I just don't want to get embarrassed. While I am sure, for some of you, that would be great, I hope others of you might take 30 seconds out of your life and give me a simple vote. It's free, there is NO resistration required. You d...

Occasionally, we hear people compare the Iraq War to the Vietnam war that ripped this country apart in the 1960's and 70's. Others immediately charge that this comparison is "ridiculous" and "politically motivated." So I steer clear of making such comparisons, until now. One of my favorite movies was American Graffiti. The 1972 groundbreaking George Lucas work shows a night in the life of several teenagers in the early 1960's, just as America was "losing it's innocence." At the end of the...

To read the headline on Katherine Harris's very own website ( http://www.electharris.org/news/Read.aspx?ID=109) "Harris Beats Nelson...Leads 54% to 45%" one would think an election or at least a legitimate poll had taken place. But that was not the case. Not even close. What the headline refers to is The Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park straw poll. An event that has nothing to do with anything legitimate in the realm of electinons, polls, or even straw polls. Advertising this as such...

The Mark Foley scandal has woken up more republicans to the fact that, like Ronald Reagan said "I didn't leave my party, it left me." On one side, we see principled republican conservatives and other GOPers properly calling for this matter to be properly investigated, for leaders to voluntarily relinquish their posts and returning campain contributions from the disgraced congressman. On the other hand, the Bush loyalists are desperately screaming for someone to "blame the democrats" and w...

Late night comedians had a field day when Pat Stevens, the Senator in charge of the internet in congress, commented that the internet was a "series of tubes" showing how little he knew about the technology he was overseeing. Of course we all remember George Bush senior needing bar codes to be explained to him in a supermarket, exposing just how little shopping the ex pres actually ever did himself. Michael Dukakis was a walking joke after putting on a helmet and riding around in a tank as i...

Recently, Conservative journalists and bloggers have been making up more lies about ex president Clinton. As i've stated before, i'm not a democrat (i'm a libertarian by party, but don't agree withthem all the time either) but I believe it's a shame what is being done to a pretty good President who despite what the radical right wing wants everyone to believe, had a successful Presidency. The claim has been made (again) that Bill Clinton "cut and ran" from Somalia after the infamous "black...
