To read the headline on Katherine Harris's very own website ( http://www.electharris.org/news/Read.aspx?ID=109) "Harris Beats Nelson...Leads 54% to 45%" one would think an election or at least a legitimate poll had taken place. But that was not the case. Not even close. What the headline refers to is The Lakeland Bi-Annual Politics in the Park straw poll. An event that has nothing to do with anything legitimate in the realm of electinons, polls, or even straw polls. Advertising this as such...

California GOP heads are urging candidate Tan D. Nguyen, a Vietnamese immigrant trying to unseat a popular Democratic incumbent. Nguyen, who allegedly had direct knowledge of a racist, threating letter targeted at hispanic voters in California. Over 14,000 letters were sent out telling them they might be arrested and deported if they even tried to vote. Nguyen denies having any direct involvement, but evidence suggests otherwise. One might think that these allegations would come from the ...

If you ever wanted to see how people who call themselves "Libertarians" can be so different from each other, check out this interview from the weekend. It is from social Libertarian Bill Maher's show, "RealTime with Bill Maher." Here he chats with old school Conservative Libertarian Ron Paul of Texas who ran for President in 1988 under the Libertarian banner and is currently seeking the GOP nomination for 2008. 2 libertarians. 2 different viewpoints. Some common ground. And a civil discu...

Vice President Dick Cheney might be the most polarizing individual ever to hold office in the modern era of our politics. And in the past couple of years, his popularity has sunk to levels below 20%. Meaning more than 4 out of 5 people don't approve of his handling of his job. OF course, Mr Cheney's cavalierness towards the rest of our government is only fueled by the fact that elections simply don't matter to him anymore. He isn't running for President in 2008 and will probably just sit back...

Congressman Ron Paul (R-Tx) was "treated like a rock star" delivering his anti war / limited government message in New Hampshire over the weekend. This according to the Politico's report on his trip there, which began Thursday. Link Paul got standing ovations on both his entrance and exit from the stage. His messages? On the Iraq war..."The worst thing that could happen to al-Qaeda is for that war to end," Paul said. On fiscal responsibility... "I think the Republicans have faile...

Today, The Whitehouse decided that "stay the course" was no longer acceptable as a talking point. After years of demonizing anyone who even suggestied any changes in tactics, the administration wishes to paint itself as a flexible, nimble and ever changing force. Too little, too late. If someone suggested more troops, the administration said "no, we need to stay the course." If someone suggested less troops, they were told "no, we need to stay the course." If someone suggested trying to br...

I was just cleared to interview Congressman Joseph Wilson (R-SC). The interview will happen in the next week or so. I thought I might throw it out to JU readers to suggest questions they might ask. I will be submitting questions in advance for the Congressman, so no "blindsides." The primary topic will be one that is of great interest, immigration.

Tuesday night, the 10 current field of candidates took the stage for a 3rd time in this young political season. CNN again hosted the event, as they had done Sunday night with the democratic field of contenders. Missing was recently filed candidate, Fred Thompson, who won't make his official announcement until July 4th weekend reportedly. The rest of the Presidential wanabees debated for about 2 hours. The event was hosted by Wolf Blitzer, who after 2 debates, wasn't nearly as in contro...

The following is an account of the fear mongering of the administration. It documents 13 instances of the administration using the media as their propoganda tool to spread fear and to squash other stories... OLBERMANN: Number one, May 18th, 2002; the first details of the president‘s daily briefing of August 6th, 2001 are revealed, including its title “Bin laden determined to strike in U.S.” The same day, another memo is discovered revealing the FBI knew of men with links to al Qaeda train...

In the 2004 Presidential campaign, America was introduced to a new term for lying. The term came from a group of pro-republican partisn hacks who's leader had a history of being recruited by people like Richard Nixon to smear and discredit rivals. In both Nixon's and the 2004 Bush campaign, that man who was hired to carry out a mission of propoganda and smear campaigns was John O'Neill. The group John O'Neill founded for the purposes of serving the Bush campaign, like it had the Nix...

Last night, Texas congressman Ron Paul was a lone anti war voice on the stage. Paul defended his truly conservative position against the war, as the other candidates tried to twist his position for applause. After the debate, as it was obvious that Paul's message did get thru despite Sean Hannity and GOP lackey Michael Steele lobbying for Paul being banned from future debates as the congressman was actually winning Fox's own post debate poll with a 30% share. By the time Paul was intervie...

Yesterday, the Politico reported that ex-NYC Mayor, Rudy Giuliani gave to planned parenthood, the evil face of the pro-choice movement to anti-choice activists. Rudy gave contributions, according to his tax records, in 1993, 1994, 1998, and 1999. Also, Giuliani has addressed crowds more recently, making a case that republicans should adopt the more "libertarian" stance on abortion, like him. For example, he appeared at a NARAL / Pro-Choice America luncheon in 2001,where he voiced a con...

Last night, 10 GOP candidates for President took the stage at the impressive Ronald reagan Library in California. The debate was hosted and moderated by MSNBC's Chris Matthews. New to the Presidential debates in general was the asking of questions from Politico.com readers. And while the new twist was refreshing, most candidates couldn't deal with the questions and brushed them off or dodged them more often than not en route back to their previous agenda. Most of the candidates came prep...

Congress has sent the appropriations bill on the Iraq war as they promised. They have listened to the American people who have overwhelmigly demanded, as their employers, that President Bush begin a withdrawal from Iraq. The bill is not my ideal bill, but it is at least in the direction the nation has pointed the government in. The President has responded with the false argument that those who want out of Iraq "are trying to tell the generals what to do." This is a lie. The Congress isn't...

This week saw another round in Dick Cheney and his office defying the wheels of justice, Congress and anyone that dares question the Vice President. Now it seems that Cheney's game is essentially about switching which branch of the government they belong to at their convenience and discretion. If someone wants them accountable to the executive, Cheney's office claims to be a member of the legislative branch using Dick's title of Senate President for cover. Then, if Congress wants to question ...
