a flight attendents bad attitude and lies gets mother / child kicked off of a plane...
Published on July 12, 2007 By Sean Conners aka SConn1 In Parenting
Recently, a mother and child were kicked off of a flight for no other reason than a flight attendent's bad attitude and appararent lust for complete control. Not only that, the flight attendent actually seriously reccomended forcing drugs on a child that wasn't being violent, loud or out of control in any way.

Apparantly, according to eyewitness reports, this mother and child were on the flight, as it was doing it's taxi to the runway. The child, doing as children do, was innocently repeating a phrase over and over. the phrase was "bye-bye plane." Apparantly that "offended" the flight attendent. At the end of her standard spiel, the stewardess told the mother she would have to "shut that kid up" and went as far as to reccomend benodryl to sedate the child for the flight.

When the mother objected to the stewardess's demands, the stewardess played the "she threatened me" card and had the flight turn back, and used that lie to have the mother and child kicked off the flight. The post 9/11 equivalent of screaming rape because you decided that your date wasn't quite as cute as you thought a few hours ago or the night before. Or to put it in a potentially less offensive way, the analogy of someone calling social services on their neighbor just to "get em" will work too. As would other analogies where the motives are far less than pure.

According to the passengers, no threat was made. Also, the child was bothering no one, including the unrelated gentleman sitting next to the mother and child. The only person who was offended was the employee. And the only threat that was made was to her vision of absolute power on her flight.

People were made hours late, plans ruined, meetings missed and all the other problems that go along with a late flight. In this case, one that had no business being late.

I'm not one that suggests people go out and sue someone as a knee jerk reaction. But in this case, i'll allow my knee to jerk. And not only should the mother sue, but every passenger that had their plans ruined by this stewardess on a power trip should sue. No question, the attendent should be immediately suspended, if not fired. As should anyone who trained her, or should I say mis-trained her into thinking that her power is not to be questioned and children should act as she demands, even if they are bothering no one.

It is not a knee jerk.  I read the same story, and if it was just a "mom said she said" issue, we could debate what really happened. However the corroboration of the unrelated passengers indicates that the stewardess was way out of line, and the poor mother was clearly not in the wrong.

I would settle for the stewardess getting canned for this (in a suit) instead of money, as it is clear she is not fit for this type of work.

well put...i'm not sure that the mother should sue for "millions" or anything frivolous and gratuitous like that. i would like to see some accountability where the people who trained her are concerned.

i was in a taco bell some time back and the employee there kept screwing up my order. after like 3 times, the manager came over and embarrassed the employee while attempting a standard apology with me.

i stopped the mgr. and pointed out my experience in dealing with customers, training, etc...and pointed out that the fact that this employee was clueless was their problem, not the employee's. that if their employee was not trained properly, it is the responsibility of the management and whomever trained this employee.

i explained that belittling the employee in front of me was bad management and indicative (sp?) of the lack of training the employee probably got. and that his behavior was more offensive to me than my order being messed up by a long shot.

i figured that the employees future was short with taco bell after the way i had embarrassed the manager in front of his entire staff. so, before i left, i gave the employee a card of mine and told him to call if he got fired or no longer wanted to work there.

the next day i got a call from the kid. a week later he started as a lot attendant at the dealership i was working for at the time. as time went on, he got friendly with the service crew and eventually became a mechanic and today is doing very well as one.

i don't know what the manager is doing these days. i still go to that taco bell occasionally but i can't remember seeing that manager there since that day.

turns out, i was right about the support and the fact that there was no threat made despite what others claimed.

but it is nice to see that the obsession continues

DG Saying: When the whole world disagrees with you, just because you say you are right does not make it so.

lame I know, but you will appreciate it better as the Conner clan gets older (old parents saying I should say)

I know.  I commented on Locamama's thread as well.  All the reports were backing the mother.  So my quote was directed towards the nay sayers (and the Stew).  And in support of your article.

As for the clan, enjoy them while they still think you know everything.  This too shall pass. (and sorry for the lack of the S).

thanks...yeah, the lil "nay sayer" had all sorts of racist implications (figured the passenger mom must have been black and must have been ignorant 1st) turns out, the mom was lily white. but that is to be expected from the lil klangirl.

then a tirade on why no child should ever be out in public. and we all know why the baren lil one hates children so much...but i wonder if when she goes out in public and small children are bothered and frightened by her disfigured, troll like appearance if she voluntarily leaves or if she has to be forced out?

and all that just to continue her over the top obsession with me.

and stardock throws it on the front page, lol. i guess, in the end, the bickering is "good for ratings." lol

as long as everyone is content and happy...guess that is all that matters

and again DG, thanks for the philosophic words bout my family...i'm sure they will ring true one day,,,and don't sweat the S, lol.

I think everyone jumped to conclusions way to early on this story for the little information provided. While I agree that parents who allow their children to run and scream without a care should be ashamed of themselves, I don't think that children should always be blamed for being children. Especially when we all were children once and chances are we all behaved badly at one time or another even when mommy or daddy yelled at us or spanked us (or beat us, not me though). Now this story you posted contradicts what the other article by LW says. I don't judge children simply because they are children and I don't judge the parents simply because of their children. As Jilluser posted on LW's article even her and Brad had problems controlling their small child on a plane with anything and everything they thought could help keep the child calm.
