All right, I'll bite. I'm listening to it. It's not so terrible I'm shutting it off, which is good. The lyrics are hard to hear, but the vocal sound fits in with the song. I like the guitar, and it's got a nice beat. Overall, not my thing. But not something I would skip if it came up on Launchcast. I can't hear the guitar solos very well either, which is the best part of songs! Also, at one point the music kind of builds up, but the vocals don't really build with it.

Disclaimer: I am not a music critic. I don't know what I'm talking about. But I wanted you, Sean, to know that someone actually took the time to listen to your song, and didn't hate it.

i appreciate the honest feedback. and yeah, some of the levels are off, that's why it's a demo...it's a 1st rough mix. and next time it's mixed the levels should be more on and balanced.

Actually, not bad! Good flow, nothing to add that jythier already didn't (and that you aren't already aware of). Better than most of what you hear on those sites.

And you KNOW I wouldn't be sparse with criticism if I had any...lol!

Well, I'm glad I wasn't telling you anything you weren't already on your way to fixing.

thanks gid, appreciate it:) actually, i noticed that you cited ripple in another post...you should check out the song on there "crooked highway" that i wrote back in the late 80's when i was goin to a lot of GD shows...it's very "truckin" influenced. if ya do listen to that one, turn down your bass...that's the flaw in that demo.

actually Jy, you are as qualified as anyone and you did give me some direction on how i should adjust some of the guitar levels (there's like 6 parts + bass just for guitars) ...

oh, and by the way,,,how do the drums sound?
on Jun 24, 2007
The drums are loud, maybe a teensy bit too loud. If you leave most of the guitar alone, and turned down the drums a bit, and bumped the guitar solo up a bit, the vocals would come through better, I think. It very well could be the drums drowning them out, and not the vocals being too soft.

I'm liking crooked highway, too. Going to listen to all your demos, but I'm not going to critique. It's growing on me after a couple listens, this "Don't Like the Rain"

I love the Cosmic tune. I'd buy that finished track of itunes. Well, I wouldn't ACTUALLY buy it, but I would wish I could afford to buy music off itunes so that I could purchase that one.

Thanks! It's really catchy. Banter to keep from saying how I would do it, it's not my song. Banter Banter. Great job, Sean Conners!

I really wanted the chorus to be shouted out the first time around. The music built up but the vocals just sort of fell off.

I feel like a judge on RockStar.

actually, that track, unlike the others, was recorded with one of my old bands, "Joe's Garage" a few years back. it was a live performance when the song was 1st being performed. i probably do scream it out more sometimes, and i'll keep that in mind for future performances.

the other tracks are all me with overdubs. the exception would be mick fleetwood doing the drums on the new track (don't like the rain) and i merely arranged that. i would like to put some covers on there so people could hear interpretations of songs they might be familiar with, but then i run into copright issues and since i'm in ASCAP and all, that's kind of a no-no.

i did get personal written permission to put both a neil young cover (hey hey my my) on the site, which i had on there for a while last year and a fred eaglesmith cover (john deere) which i never got around to posting on there.
