Last spring, the nation supposedly was enlightened to a tragic course of events. A woman had been raped by 3 priveledged students at one of the south's premiere universities. And this time, justice would prevail. the students were quickly identified, indicted and imprisoned. Evidence, including DNA evidence was gathered that would prove these out of control rich-kids were guilty of raping this poor woman. The students were thrown off the team, thrown off campus. The rest of the team, who was ...

Are you looking to start your own terrorist organization but just don't know where to get all those parts to build your bombs? Well, thankfully, in this land of opportunity, the Pentagon has got you covered! And furthermore, for pennies on the dollar! It's kind of like Ebay for terrorists, maybe they'll call it "EBomb." Really, the US Defense department has been selling literally hundreds of lots just filled with missile parts, bomb making parts and all kinds of useful tools for the...

Last night's "Special Comment" by Keith Olbermann was a classic, and, as per usual lately, right on point. The complete special comment can be found here...the following is the 1st part to wet the appetite.... Keith Olbermann 1/2/07 If in your presence an individual tried to sacrifice an American serviceman or woman, would you intervene? Would you at least protest? What if he had already sacrificed 3,003 of them? What if he had already sacrificed 3,003 of them — and was then to...

In America, we often have debates concerning "the right to life" concerning various procedures that occur from before our departure from the womb to the end of our life. Good people, many of whom are Christians and Catholics will debate whether it is ok or not to abort a fetus, euthenize a terminally ill patient or put a serial killer to death. And we, reflecting our diversity, will take up various positions along the way. Some will stand on permitting abortion but opposing the death ...

Of course, all the usual caveats apply... "It's way too early to make firm predictions." "Dramatic changes in events could reshape things." "Most Of These People Haven't Officially Announced" And all that. But just for laughs, I want to give some thoughts on some early contenders and what may happen come 2008. First, a look at the GOP side of the fence. John McCain- the aging Senator seems to have slipped from his early front runner status. That's in due, part, to his pro-Iraq ...

It seems everyone these days likes to build up the idea in their own head that they are a "good american." Humans have long had the ability to rationalize and justify their own behavior, but these days, it seems particularly en vogue. the most common way to rationalize one's own greatness is to point out others badness. For example, People who are card carrying NRA members point to their uncompromising position that they can own any firearm they want no matter what the government has to ...

The White House won't admit it, but it is a civil war in Iraq. Despite the administration's rhetoric and whining about everybody but them being "politically motivated and biased" the facts are now clear. the Iraq War meets the technical definition of Civil War. And there is no denying it at this point. How is Civil War defined? Well, if you look it up, it is a noun and defined as "a war between opposing groups of citizens of the same country." And Iraq certainly qualifies as that. The Whi...

If I tried to write an article on this subject, i'd only end up plagarizing Keith, so i'll just let his words stand... OLBERMANN: And now as promised the special comment about the president‘s visit to Vietnam. It is a shame and it is embarrassing to us all when President Bush travels 8,000 miles only to wind up avoiding reality again. And it is pathetic to hear the leader of the free world talk so unrealistically about Vietnam, when it was he who permitted the Swift Boating of not one...

In his press conference today, President Bush spoke of finding "common ground" with the new, democratically controlled congress. This new attitude is most welcomed by me. He stated in his conference that he had spoken with Nancy Pelosi this morning and they were both interested in finding that "common ground." Of course, 2 days ago, the message was, "no matter what, it's full steam ahead" and "Rumsfeld will remain until my term expires." But despite the political rhetoric, I believe the P...

NBC News is reporting that Donald Rumsfeld will resign. This comes only a week after President Bush declared that the secretary would be in his cabinet until 2009 when the President's term expires. The President has now established, once again, his ability to "flip flop" when politically convenient. He will be replaced by Bob Gates, another "good ol boy" from Texas A&M. Gates other recent resume entry includes working on the Baker / Hamilton commission that will unveil a new plan for Ira...

For sometime now. Most of us have watched the administration selectively misquote and misrepresent people and things. They use what they think are clever lil "legalisms an carefully worded denials" meanwhile using their sheeps clothing to carry out the wolf's agenda. When people call them on the lies and disprove their premises, they jump ship and begin parroting elsewhere to a more gullible audience. When all gullible audiences have been used up, they change the subject. Then, some t...

Going into the weekend, no doubt, the election will be the dominat story. Experts tell us there are 7 key races where the Democrats can possibly obtain the majority. Here are my predictions on who will win each race. Feel free to add your own prediction. Missouri - Talent vs. McCaskill This one is called a toss up right now. Talent isn't as issues vulnerable as some like Santorum and Allen. I've seen polls putting each up by 5 points, and deadlocked. Talent wins, 52 / 48 Montana...

Most people in this country like Laura Bush. The ex-librarian comes across as that mom who always had some cookies and juice for the kids playing out back. She had the air of a traditional woman that some see as a thing of the past. Most people, even those who dislike the President and/ or his policies, liked Laura. For the most part, I like her. She has that goofy cross eyed thing like the one girl from the Dixie Chicks, but that aside, she's usually come across as an "all american tradition...
